Water, Water Everywhere

Gassan Legacy in Ban Thi, Lamphun, under an hour from Chiang Mai, is the course longtime visitors remember as Gassan Lake City. It opened under that name in 2005, closed for a full redesign by Lee Schmidt of Schmidt-Curley, and reopened in 2014 as Gassan Legacy, but the promise of the old name still holds: a lakeside layout where water shapes the strategy on hole after hole, including five par 3s that all play across it. If your trip so far has been parkland and mountains, this is the change of scenery, and the change of tactics, that keeps a multi-round holiday fresh.

Why We Recommend It

  • The variety factor: lakeside golf plays differently, more angles, more risk-reward, more honest conversations with your ball retriever

  • Multi-round trips: it slots perfectly between the mountain courses and the city ones

  • The Gassan pairing: combine with Gassan Khuntan nearby for a two-course Lamphun day, or add the third sister course, Gassan Panorama (formerly Gassan Marina), which stretches to some of the longest yardage in Thailand

Practical Notes

  • Bring a few spare balls, the lakes are not decorative

  • Caddies accompany every player and their line-reading over water carries is worth its weight in saved balls; tip in cash after the round

  • We confirm current green fees and conditions when you book
