Grand Canyon Water Park fills a former quarry in Hang Dong with turquoise lagoons, a giant floating aquapark, water slides, cliff jumping platforms, a 400-meter zipline across the water and a pirate-themed kids zone. It is about a 30 minute ride south of Chiang Mai city and one of the best family days out in the North.

From quarry to lagoon

The canyon is man-made: earth was excavated here for the expansion of Chiang Mai's airport, and the deep pits left behind gradually filled with water. Locals were swimming here long before it became official - today the water park side (opened in 2016 on around 14 hectares of water) runs with lifeguard stations, compulsory life jackets and a full day of things to do on and off the water.

Choose your ticket

  • Day Pass: all-day park access, life jacket, floating aquapark, kayaks, kids zone and one free zipline round. Enter any time during opening hours.
  • Day Pass + Wakeboard: adds a 1-hour cable wakeboard session (age 6+, guests over 120 cm only).

Hotel transfer is an optional add-on you can tick with either ticket: the Red Truck picks up within 3 km of the Old Town for 300 baht per person, and return trucks leave the park at 3, 5 and 7 PM. Children under 90 cm ride free.

Good to know

Children under 90 cm enter free. Children 90-120 cm pay the child rate; the wakeboard is for guests over 120 cm only. Life jackets are included and must be worn whenever you are on the water. The on-site Copper Canyon Café serves Thai and international dishes including halal options; outside food and drinks are not allowed (they are stored at the entrance and returned when you leave). If you drive yourself, parking opposite the entrance is free.
