Moderate. The trail is mostly flat or gently climbing with a few steep parts, and you cross the river several times, so wear shoes with grip that can get wet. Most reasonably fit people finish it comfortably.
Yes for children who are used to walking, from about five years old. The treehouse terrace has strong railings and the family has hosted toddlers to teenagers.
Simple and clean. Private rooms with bedding, mosquito nets, fans and electricity around the clock. Bathrooms have western toilets and hot showers; some rooms are ensuite, others share.
It is jungle, so yes in the warm and rainy months. Numbers are lowest from November to February. Bring repellent and cover up in the evening; every bed has a net.
Home-cooked Thai food prepared by the family, served on the terrace. All meals during the trip are included; drinks other than water are extra.
After breakfast you are driven to the local hot springs for an hour of bathing, then back to Chiang Mai. The hot spring entrance fee is paid on the spot.
