Elephant Fun Farm is a family run elephant camp in Nam Phrae, Hang Dong district, on the south-western edge of Chiang Mai. This full day program pairs the farm's elephant care activities with a visit to the Sticky Waterfall, the limestone cascade north of the city that you can climb barefoot. It suits families and small groups who want two very different halves to the day; groups are capped at 12 people and there is a child rate for ages 4 to 6.

At the farm you learn about the life of Thai elephants from the family who keep them, feed the elephants by hand and walk with them around the camp. The farm's own packing list asks for a swimsuit, a towel and a change of clothes, so expect to get wet when the elephants are washed. The farm also keeps other small animals, including meerkats, that you can hold. A local meal is served during the day. At the Sticky Waterfall mineral deposits make the rock grippy rather than slippery, so you walk up the tiers of the cascade in the water holding a rope where it is steep.

Practicalities: the farm and the waterfall are on opposite sides of Chiang Mai, so a good share of the eight hours is spent in the vehicle. Round trip transport from your accommodation in Chiang Mai, an English speaking guide, the meal, drinking water and the elephant food are included. Our office confirms your pickup time when you book.

Bookings open up to 150 days ahead; the latest date you can book is Sun 28 Feb 2027.
