Half-Day Thai Cooking Class - BaanThai Cookery School

Baan Thai Cookery School sits in the old city a few blocks from Thapae Gate, and the half-day class is a compact four and a half hours: a market walk, four dishes, a curry paste and a dessert, all cooked by you. Classes are small, which suits solo travellers and couples as well as families.

You are collected from your hotel between 09:00 and 09:30, get a short briefing, and spend 30 to 45 minutes in a local market learning what goes into Thai cooking. Back at the school there is a welcome drink and a snack while your teacher explains the different kinds of Thai rice and shows how sweet sticky rice is made. Then you cook. You pick four dishes across noodles, soup, appetizer and curry, make your own curry paste, and sit down to eat what you made. Questions are welcome over the meal, and a complimentary dessert closes the class. You are back at your hotel around 14:00.

Vegetarian and vegan versions are available. Pickup and drop-off is free within 3 km of the old city. You take home a recipe book with more than 30 recipes and notes on Thai ingredients, vegetables and fruit.
