This full day in the hills west of Chiang Mai brings together a striking temple, a colourful cave and a float down a jungle river. You are picked up from your hotel between 8:00 and 8:30 and are back in the early evening, with round-trip transfers included.

Your first stop is the metal castle temple at Wat Ban Pong. It is built in the Lohaprasada style, with tiers of white and gold spires, and is said to be one of only a few buildings of this kind in the world. It stands on a hill above the valley.

Next you explore Mae Sap Cave, also called the Rainbow Cave, where colourful bands of minerals run through the limestone between stalactites and stalagmites.

The main event is a 2.5 km tubing trip on the Samoeng River, floating past green forest and mountain views. Bring clothes that can get wet and something dry to change into. It is a relaxed and fun day out for families, couples and anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
